This morning, Alpha Psi Rho Fraternity at San Diego State University, will be volunteering at the Jump Start Your Heart 5K Run! We will be helping hand out water bottles, towels, etc and even setup the start and finish lines. Although waking up early will be quite tough, we’re looking forward to have fun through Brhotherhood and show support for a great cause. All proceeds from the event will also go to the Children’s Heart Foundation!
The event will take place at Crown Point Shores (1769 Moorland Drive, San Diego CA 92109), and will begin at 9 A.M for anyone who would like to come out and join us in the walk/run!

Now were finally in December, and were all busy hitting the books preparing for finals week! Good luck to everyone else on their finals as well! For now, look out for the upcoming events Alpha Psi Rho Alpha Chapter has in stored!

December 17th, Alpha Psi Rho Alpha Chapter Formals
I know the semester has been busy especially for the Gentlemen of Alpha Psi Rho, Alpha Chapter. From the recent Fil-Am Fest, Breast Cancer Walk to our national philanthropy, we have been striving to make an impact in our community.
Our national philanthropy is promoting awareness/ fundraising for type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Our Philanthropy Coordinator for Fall 2011, Richard Vittalich, did an amazing job by organizing this years Diabetes Walk. Thanks to him, Alpha Psi Rho has raised $2,410 for the research of Type-1 and Type- 2 diabetes. Our goal this year was only $1,500.
Diabetes is an “up and coming” disease especially to the Asian/ Pacific Islander community. According to doctors at the Catholic University of Korea in Seoul, 194 million Asians were diabetic in 2003, a statistic that could soar to 330 million by the year 2025. The brothers of Alpha Psi Rho felt it was neccesary to educate and empower the API community every year about this terrible disease.
If you would like to participate with us next year in our walk, feel free to contact us! If you would still love to donate, please follow the link below. A dollar WILL make a difference.

As most of you know, on Friday, March 11th, 2011, Northeastern Japan was hit by a devastating earthquake (8.9/9.0) that caused massive damage upon this island. Blackouts, fires, and a tremendous tsunami hit the Miyagi Prefecture causing widespread destruction to the homes and lives of the Japanese people. About 2.5 thousand have been confirmed dead while that number is predicted to surpass 10,000, according to http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/japanese-survivors-worry-about-dwindling-supplies-food-after-devastating-earthquake-tsunami/2011/03/13/ABlOz6S_story.html. Although there are miraculous stories about the discovery of new survivors every day, we still can not forget those who have yet to be found. Our hearts go out to the people who have been affected by this disaster.
SO WHAT WILL WE DO ABOUT IT?!
SDSU’s Nikkei Student Union along with Alpha Psi Rho will be teaming up to host a relief show called Japan Aid and Relief Show (JARS) on March 25th from 6:30 – 9:30 at the Backdoor in Lower Aztec at San Diego State University, followed by a Candlelight Vigil in order to raise awareness and collect donations. Donations will be forwarded to the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC). We will be selling T-Shirts for $20, all of which will be donated to the relief fund. We ask for your support by attending this event along with donating anything you can to help save the lives of these people in need. We look forward to seeing you there!

This past weekend we celebrated our 11 YEARS strong of being a part of Rho Fam. It was a nice way to take a break from school and work to come together to commemorate 11 years of doing work and having fun. It was great to see Founding Fathers along with a lot of alumni. Special thanks goes to James Kim for organizing this event, our venue providers, and all those who showed and still show support for Alpha Psi Rho. Be on the look out for Battle of the Classes on March 25th for what should be another dope event.
